Shipping from Thailand to Philippines

HBK Global Trading helps Philippine buyers and businesses manage shipping from Thailand to Philippines by air and sea. Whether you are sending a single box from a Thai supplier, electronics that need careful handling, automotive parts you cannot wait on, or a full container of stock, our team reviews the shipment first, explains which option suits the goods, coordinates the customs side, and plans the delivery leg to Metro Manila and beyond.

Thailand is one of ASEAN’s biggest sourcing markets for Philippine importers — automotive components out of the “Detroit of Asia,” furniture, processed food, electronics. The freight part is rarely what catches people out. The paperwork is.

What HBK covers on this route:

•             Air and sea freight from Thailand to the Philippines

•             Everything from a single parcel to a full container

•             Customs clearance support and document review by our customs compliance team

•             Delivery to Metro Manila and other Philippine destinations, depending on route and service availability

Who This Route Is For

Thai suppliers, factories, and exporters price competitively across a wide range of products, and ASEAN trade rules make Thailand one of the more practical countries to buy from. If you are sourcing there and need the goods here, this is a lane we run regularly.

The cargo varies enormously — a first-time buyer sending one box of samples, an online seller restocking, an SME importing inventory by the pallet, a workshop bringing in automotive parts, a container of goods for resale. The service handles both ends of that range, and the review is the same either way.

What changes the answer is the detail: what the item actually is, what it is worth, how it is packed, what documents came with it, and where it needs to land. That is where first-time importers most often get stuck — so we go through it with you before anything ships rather than after.

Cost, Transit Times and Options

There is no single price for this route. What you pay depends on the method, the size and weight of your boxes, the value declared, the origin point in Thailand, the destination here, and what the shipment needs on arrival. Here is how the main options compare:

Shipping Option Best For Typical Transit & Notes
Courier / Express Small parcels, documents, single urgent items Often 1–3 business days; priced per parcel; the courier usually clears the shipment
Air Freight Urgent, high-value and time-sensitive goods, electronics A few days — roughly 5–6 port-to-port in our experience; priced on volumetric weight
Sea Freight (LCL) Loads too big for a courier, too small for a container Ocean leg often under two weeks port-to-port; door-to-door a few weeks; priced per CBM
Container (FCL) High-volume or full-container commercial loads Dedicated container; similar sea transit; best value at volume
Door Delivery The last leg after arrival and release Timing depends on clearance and destination

All figures are estimates, not guarantees. Actual timings depend on route, carrier, clearance, and the delivery leg.

Rates move with fuel prices and peak seasons, so a flat published number would be misleading within a month of writing it. Send your cargo details and you get a current quote against your actual shipment instead of a guess.

One question comes up constantly: courier or freight forwarding? Integrated couriers like DHL suit small, urgent parcels where the per-kilo premium is worth it. Freight forwarding makes more sense once you are moving commercial volume, need consolidation, or want someone managing the compliance side rather than handing you a bill on arrival.

Air Freight from Thailand to Philippines

When speed decides it, air is the answer. Cargo generally departs through Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and arrives via Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), though the exact routing depends on the airline and the aircraft.

Air tends to suit:

•             Restocks and urgent shipments you cannot wait on

•             Electronics and precision items

•             Automotive parts needed quickly to avoid downtime

•             Smaller commercial loads and fast-moving products

•             Parcels where speed is worth the premium

Two things to know before you commit. Airlines bill on volumetric weight as well as actual weight, so a light but bulky carton can cost considerably more than the scale suggests — worth checking your dimensions before booking. And the shipment still has to clear on arrival, which is precisely why we do not promise exact delivery dates on any route.

Our Air Shipping Service and Air Freight pages go deeper into how the service works.

Sea Freight and Container Shipping from Thailand

For heavier, bulkier, or less urgent goods, sea is the sensible choice. It takes longer, but the cost difference at volume is substantial — which is why most business inventory from Thailand moves by vessel.

Sea works well for:

•             Larger consignments and multiple cartons

•             Business inventory and regular restocks

•             Consumer goods in volume

•             Automotive parts and heavier commercial loads

•             Anything where waiting a little longer saves real money

You have two paths. LCL Shipping shares vessel space with other cargo, so you pay only for the space you use — priced per CBM, and the right call when your load outgrows a courier but does not fill a container. Full Container Load gives you a dedicated container once your volume justifies one.

Packing and documentation matter more here than most people expect. Incomplete or mismatched paperwork is the single most common cause of delay on this lane, and it is far cheaper to fix in Thailand than at the port in Manila. We check it before the cargo leaves. See our Sea Freight page for the detail.

Customs, Compliance and Documentation

This is where shipments go wrong, and it is the part of the job we take most seriously.

Your cargo needs accurate documents, a defensible declared value, a clear product description, and correct compliance information before it can move toward release. Depending on what you are importing, duties, taxes, permits, or inspections may apply. Valuation follows CIF — cost, insurance, and freight — which is what the assessment is calculated against under the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863).

Two points work in a Philippine importer’s favour, both worth understanding properly rather than assuming.

Low-value shipments may be treated differently. Under CAO 02-2016, goods below the de minimis threshold — currently ₱10,000 FOB value — generally enter without duties and taxes. Thresholds and their application are subject to review and depend on how the shipment is valued and aggregated, so we check where your consignment actually falls during quotation rather than promising an outcome.

ASEAN origin can reduce your tariff. Thailand and the Philippines are both party to the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement, so goods that meet the rules of origin may qualify for reduced or zero tariff treatment when supported by a valid Certificate of Origin (Form D). Eligibility turns on the product, its HS classification, and whether the documentation is correct and complete — it is not automatic, and it is easy to miss when shipping without support.

What we typically review before booking:

•             Commercial invoice — transaction value, quantity, buyer and seller details

•             Packing list — contents, weight, and dimensions per package

•             Declared and CIF value where applicable

•             Actual and volumetric weight

•             Country of origin, supplier details, and export documentation

•             Import permits where required, plus consignee details

•             Philippine delivery address and proof of purchase where available

Our customs compliance team reviews each document against Bureau of Customs requirements, and coordinates with licensed customs brokers where required. On many shipments HBK can stand as consignee, which simplifies the regulatory side considerably for smaller importers. HS classification gets particular attention — a misclassified item invites both delay and penalty, and it is one of the few problems that is genuinely cheap to prevent and expensive to fix.

Send Your Cargo Details

Restricted, Counterfeit and Special-Control Goods

Better to know before you book than after your cargo is sitting in a container yard.

•             Counterfeit goods should not be shipped. They may be restricted, prohibited, or subject to enforcement action.

•             Agricultural products may require permits, inspections, or approvals depending on the product and quantity.

•             Certain electronics, batteries, and automotive components are regulated and may need agency clearance before dispatch.

•             Security rules apply to both air and sea. Nothing should be hidden, mislabelled, or under-declared. Prohibited items can be held or confiscated.

Send a complete item list before booking and we will tell you honestly whether it can go, what it needs, or where a different approach makes more sense. A straight “no” now costs you nothing. A held shipment costs you weeks.

Insurance, Tracking and Cargo Security

Cargo insurance may be available depending on the shipment type, value, and coverage terms. We will not tell you it is free or automatic, because that varies — what we will do is explain what is available for your consignment so you can decide. It is worth serious thought on fragile and high-value goods. Read more on our Cargo Shipping Insurance page.

Tracking availability likewise depends on the service and route. Our barcode labelling accounts for cargo from the moment it is received, which is why we insist on printed labels rather than handwritten boxes — an unlabelled carton in a consolidation load is a genuinely hard problem to solve. Most delays trace back to incomplete details rather than bad luck, so ask what is included in your quote before you book.

Arrival and Delivery in the Philippines

Air shipments generally arrive through Ninoy Aquino International Airport and sea freight through the ports. On arrival the shipment still needs clearance, settlement of any duties and taxes, and release before it moves to your door.

From our Manila operation we coordinate onward delivery to Metro Manila and, depending on route, cargo type, and service availability, to destinations across Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. A complete address with working contact details is what keeps that last leg from stalling. Our Nationwide Shipping, Manila to Province Shipping, Cebu Shipping, and Davao Shipping pages cover the domestic side.

How the Process Works

Step 1 — Send your shipment details. Item description, supplier information, photos, carton sizes, weights, value, your origin in Thailand, and where it needs to go here.

Step 2 — Register for your HBK Customer ID. New customers get a unique ID to pass to their Thai supplier along with our supplier portal link, so cargo is identified correctly in our system from the start.

Step 3 — Your supplier labels and dispatches. Using our online form, your supplier prints a barcode label for each carton and sends photo proof before dispatch. Cargo is consigned to our Thailand receiving point or partner handling facility, where available for your route.

Step 4 — We review and confirm the plan. Item list, options, cost drivers, documents, compliance requirements, restrictions, destination — checked and confirmed back to you before anything moves.

Step 5 — Choose your option. Air, courier-style service, LCL, FCL, or managed delivery, whichever genuinely fits the cargo.

Step 6 — Export, freight and clearance. HBK coordinates export paperwork where applicable, books the freight, and manages clearance, assessment, and release on the Philippine side.

Step 7 — Delivery. Your shipment goes out to Metro Manila or your provincial destination where the service reaches, and you are kept informed along the way.

Why Philippine Importers Use HBK on This Route

Plenty of companies can put a box on a plane. What most Philippine importers actually need is someone who reads the whole route and catches the problems while they are still cheap.

•             A real review, not a template. We look at your items, supplier, weights, value, origin, and destination before advising — so the recommendation fits the cargo in front of us.

•             Air and sea in one place. Both modes, LCL and FCL, courier-style support, and managed delivery. We help you choose rather than push one product.

•             Compliance handled properly. Our customs compliance team reviews documentation, coordinates with licensed customs brokers where required, and manages BOC requirements. On many shipments we can act as consignee.

•             Straight answers on insurance and tracking. What is available, what it covers, what it costs. No “free insurance” fine print.

•             The last leg planned, not assumed. Delivery coordinated from Manila to your destination, subject to route and service availability.

We work with first-time buyers, online sellers, retailers, project buyers, and SMEs — giving smaller importers the same access to Thai suppliers and freight options that larger operations take for granted. Beyond freight, we also handle Product Sourcing, Supplier Verification, Supplier Payment, and Import Financing, so you can vet a new Thai supplier and pay them safely as well.

What to Send for a Quote

The more you tell us up front, the faster and sharper the quote:

•             Item list and product photos, if available

•             Supplier, shop, or seller details

•             Commercial invoice, packing list, and any export documents

•             Number of cartons and their dimensions

•             Actual and volumetric weight, if known

•             Value declared, and CIF value if applicable

•             Origin address in Thailand — Bangkok pickup or supplier details, where that applies

•             Consignee name, contact number, and Philippine destination address

•             Preferred option and target schedule, if you have one

•             Whether you need insurance, tracking, or clearance support

•             Whether the shipment includes agricultural goods, electronics, automotive parts, or anything regulated

•             Payment preference, if relevant

Do not worry if you cannot answer everything. Send what you have and we will tell you what is missing.

How long does sea freight take? The ocean leg can run under two weeks port to port, but door-to-door with consolidation and clearance usually takes a couple of weeks or more. All timings are estimates.

Can I ship from Bangkok to Manila? Yes. We review your Bangkok origin and Metro Manila destination and advise on the options.

Which airports does air cargo move through? Typically Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) on departure and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) on arrival, depending on the carrier and routing.

Can I ship electronics? Often, yes — but it depends on the item, quantity, value, battery content, and carrier rules. Send complete details first.
