Who This Page Is For
Vietnam has become one of the busiest sourcing markets for Philippine buyers. Footwear, garments, textiles, coffee, furniture, electronics, packaged goods — more importers are buying directly from Vietnamese factories and exporters every year.
If that is you, this page covers the practical side of moving Vietnam cargo to Philippines addresses: what it costs, how long it takes, which method suits your goods, and what customs will expect. We work with first-time importers, online sellers, retailers, SMEs, and established businesses across nine Asian origin markets, and HBK has been bringing imports into the Philippines since 2011.
You do not need to speak the language of freight. Tell us what you are buying and we will translate the rest.
Cost, time & method
Cost, Transit Times, and Shipping Methods
Two questions dominate almost every enquiry about shipping from Vietnam to Philippines: how much, and how long? Both depend on your cargo. Rates and timing move with the method, weight, volume, item type, origin, destination, and clearance. Anyone quoting a fixed price before seeing your shipment is guessing.
What Drives the Price
Shipping costs sit on a handful of variables: chargeable weight, cubic meter volume, container size, product type, declared value, the pickup point, and the final destination in the Philippines. Duties and handling charges sit on top. Two shipments of identical weight can price very differently once volume and classification are factored in.
How Long Shipping Times Run
Transit ranges above are indicative, not guaranteed. Shipping times shift with sailing schedules, port congestion, and clearance, and delivery times depend on where in the country your goods are headed. One planning note from experience: congestion builds before Tết (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) and again before Christmas, so add lead time if your shipment lands in those windows.
Shipping modes
Air and Sea Freight from Vietnam
Air Freight
From Vietnam to the Philippines
When a delay costs you a sale or stalls production, air is usually the right call.
From Vietnam to the Philippines
Air suits urgent shipments and time sensitive shipments tied to a launch or production schedule. It also suits high value items, where shorter transit reduces exposure, and smaller commercial cargo that does not justify an ocean container.
Airports, Carriers, and Routing
Cargo moves through Vietnam’s air gateways and arrives via Philippine airports, commonly Ninoy Aquino International Airport, depending on the routing and which international carriers are used. Pricing is driven by chargeable weight rather than volume alone, which is why air rarely makes sense for bulky, low-value goods.
One thing we are always upfront about: air freight speeds up the flight, not the paperwork. Clearance still applies on arrival, which is why our customs clearing team checks documents before your cargo lands. A fast flight followed by a held shipment helps nobody.
Sea Freight, LCL & FCL
From Vietnam to the Philippines
For heavier or less urgent cargo, ocean freight is usually the more economical route — and it is how most serious inventory moves.
Full Container Load
Full container load gives you exclusive use of an entire container. It suits large volumes, large quantities of consumer goods, higher-value commercial cargo, and regular importers with steady stock movement. Fewer touches, lower cost per unit. If you are shipping large volumes on a repeating cycle, FCL is usually where the savings are.
LCL and Consolidated Cargo
LCL, or consolidated cargo, shares a shipping container with other importers. It works for moderate volumes, businesses testing a new supplier or product line, and anyone who cannot fill a container yet. You pay for the space you occupy, and the extra consolidation step can add a few days.
Because sea freight is priced largely on the space your goods take up, container size and accurate cubic meter measurements matter — a rough guess at volume is the fastest way to an inaccurate quote. Paperwork matters just as much here: incomplete packing lists and invoices are among the most common reasons larger shipments sit longer than they should.
Clearance
Customs Clearance and Documentation
Imported goods generally need customs clearance before release, and clearance runs on paperwork. This is the part that trips up most first-time importers, and it is where our brokers do their most useful work.
Duties, VAT, and Import Charges
In the Philippines, the Bureau of Customs assesses what is owed. Customs duties depend on how your product is classified under the Harmonized System, and import duties and VAT are calculated on the CIF value — goods, insurance, and freight combined. The Philippines applies 12% VAT on most imported items. Very small shipments valued at ₱10,000 or below may qualify for the de minimis exemption. You generally pay duties before release, and physical examination can occur during clearance, so an honest declaration keeps things moving. Export formalities with Vietnamese customs apply at origin too, and the two declarations need to match — mismatched invoices are a common cause of delay.
If a shipment is already held, we handle stuck shipment assistance and Bureau of Customs coordination.

ASEAN Preferential Duties
Form D Certificate of Origin
Vietnam and the Philippines are both ASEAN members, so qualifying cargo may be eligible for reduced duties under the ASEAN trade in goods agreement. The benefit is not automatic — goods must meet rules of origin and the shipment needs a valid Form D Certificate of Origin. Our in-house Licensed Customs Brokers and Tariff Specialists check this shipment by shipment rather than leaving you to read the tariff schedule.
Before you book
Restricted, High-Value, and Special Handling Items
Not everything ships the same way, and pretending otherwise is how cargo gets held.
Goods That Need Extra Review
Certain goods carry regulatory requirements that have to be settled before they move:
High Value Items and Insurance
High value items may warrant additional documentation, a closer look at declared value, and an insurance discussion before booking. We have handled our share of cargo that needs a careful touch, from moisture-sensitive coffee to fragile high-value stock.
Send a complete item list before you ship and we will tell you honestly if something needs extra paperwork or attention. Goods should never be mislabeled or under-declared — it puts the entire shipment at risk, not just the item in question.
Coverage
Vietnam Origins and Philippine Destinations
Pickup Points Across Vietnam
A lot of cargo starts in Ho Chi Minh City, but plenty comes from a factory, warehouse, or pickup address elsewhere in the country. Origin details shape the routing, so send the pickup address, supplier contact, cargo description, box count, weight, and volume if you have it.
Supplier pickup is available on many routes, though coverage depends on the origin, shipment type, and service availability — tell us the address early and we will confirm.
Delivery to Manila, Cebu, and Remote Locations
On the Philippine side, cargo arrives at the port or airport, goes through clearance, and is released once duties and taxes are settled. From there we coordinate delivery through our domestic network to Manila, Cebu, Davao, and provincial addresses where available. For remote locations, coverage and delivery times vary by route and shipment size, so tell us the final destination early rather than assume.
For buyers who want the simplest arrangement, door-to-door is available on selected routes and shipment types.
It bundles supplier pickup, export handling, freight, clearance, and delivery under one team, with tracking updates along the way.

Shipping Cost Factors
Several factors move the number.
01
Method chosen — air freight or sea freight — and how urgent the shipment is
02
Weight, dimensions, volume, and container size
03
Whether cargo moves as full container load or shares container space
04
Product type and declared value
05
Special handling requirements
06
Pickup point in Vietnam and the delivery address in the Philippines
07
Customs duties, taxes, port charges, and additional fees
08
Insurance, where taken
Here is the honest part most shipping companies leave out: the lowest rate is not always the best value. A cheap quote costs more if it lands your goods late, exposes high value stock, or leaves you fighting a hold at the port. Real cost effectiveness accounts for speed and risk, not just the headline number, and we help you weigh those against each other to land on the most cost effective option for your cargo.
If cash flow is the constraint, import financing and supplier payment support are also available.

Why HBK
Why Importers Choose HBK
There are plenty of shipping providers that will move a box from Vietnam to the Philippines. There are fewer that will do it as a licensed, accountable partner. HBK Global Trading has been moving imports into the country since 2011, and today handles cargo for more than a hundred business clients across nine Asian origin markets.
What that means for your shipment:
Advice That Fits Your Cargo
We look at your actual item list, volumes, and destination before recommending a method — not a template answer.
In-House Customs Expertise
Licensed Customs Brokers and Tariff Specialists on our own team, not outsourced, including guidance on where ASEAN preferential duties may apply.
Volume Capability
LCL through to full container load for importers running regular inventory.
Our Own Domestic Network
Nationwide delivery coordination rather than a handoff at the port.
One Point of Contact
From the supplier’s door in Vietnam to yours here.
Plenty of international shipping services will quote you a rate. Fewer will tell you when the cheaper option is the
wrong one for your goods — which is what makes a forwarder a reliable option rather than just a booking desk.
